5.0 out of 5 stars Best Portable Baseball Net on the Market!, May 17, 2011
This review is from: Bow Net Baseball/Softball Big Mouth Portable Net (Sports)
Bought one of these nets a couple months ago when I took on coaching my son's baseball team. I researched a lot of different options and it came down to this net and the Juggs pop up net. I went with this one because of some positive reviews I read along with complaints about setting up and breaking down the Juggs. I couldn't be happier with this net along with the company's customer service (I'll get to that in a bit).

This net sets up in less than 2 minutes. It is extremely stable. I've had everyone from 6 year olds to adults crushing balls into it and I've never had to use the pins to anchor it into the ground. Even in high winds it doesn't budge. I like that it's square because it makes it harder for a mis-hit ball to sail over the net vs. the round Juggs net. This net also comes in a durable bag with shoulder straps making it really easy to carry along with the fact that it's lightweight. The bag is only about 3 1/2 feet long and 6-8 inches thick or so with everything... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars every team should have one, May 23, 2011

I love this net. My fellow coaches love this net. Our players love this net. Other teams are envious, have since bought this, and now love this net. I have hit into this net myself with baseballs and can attest to its strength and stay-upright-capabiility. I can set this net up in less than 2 minutes like the videos on the manufacturer's web site has, and my kids can even do it by themselves. It is an indispensable tool for every softball / baseball team, and much better than that blue circular one that all the travel teams seem to have. At least this one always stays up and doesn't sag over time as one of our coaches have pointed out with his. The manufacturers make nets of all sizes and sports, so there's probably one for you. I prefer this one for soft toss rather than the one they promote for soft toss (doesn't have the big mouth but more of a flat screen).

Two things to look out for:
- be careful with kids sticking their helmets into the net to retrieve balls out... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea but needs changes., January 13, 2012
This review is from: Bow Net Baseball/Softball Big Mouth Portable Net (Sports)
My daughter is a member of a competitive travel ball team, and we have four of these Big Mouth nets, they all have the same problem, very poor seam construction.

Every one of the nets the seams fail after a very short time, the newest net failed after the first day. The main issues are the two piece nylon poll pocket on either side of the net where the polls pass through.

These pockets are two piece fabrics that have an outside seem that will, and has failed, on all of our nets. To fix this issue a seam strengthener should be sewn into the fabric on the outside to prevent the seam from pulling out from the pressure of the bow in the polls. A better design would be a one piece fabric design where there is no outside seam and this fabric is sewed to the stronger netting material.

All of our nets needed to be re-sewn by an outside company to repair or strengthen this area.

The concept of the net is great, it's just the execution of the... Read more
