This review is from: Razor E300 Electric Scooter (Sports) Like some reviews, my 8-year-old son's first E300 only ran about ten minutes per charge and 13mph max speed (yes, I have a radar gun). Troubleshooting sent us toward a dragging brake, but the brake adjustment was fine. The chain, however, was super tight (I'm an old motorcycle racer, so I know a lot about chain tension). I loosened the chain tension, but no improvement, and returned the entire unit. (I suspect either a bad battery or the overly tight chain tension damaged the motor armature.) When the next E300 showed up, I checked the chain immediately out of the box. Again, super tight. I loosened the chain (extra loose for the first run, maybe 3/4" play) and completed the rest of the setup. The unit performed flawlessly. Speed was consistently 17mph and still running strong after 35 minutes (we've only done two test runs so far). Slightly tightened chain tension to about 1/2" after first run. Also, as noted by another reader, we looked everywhere for the rear tire inflater... Read more 62 of 69 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Razor E300 Electric Scooter (Sports) I am very happy with the scooter except that it lacks power to go up even small hills without overheating (so that you have to push it, let it cool, then press the reset button after a few minutes). It cannot operate 45 minutes continuously as claimed, more like 25 minutes, and has a much more limited range than the inferred 7.5 miles (45 minutes at 10 mph), more like 3 miles. It is fast and fun, but does not have the range and power I expected. It is basically good for level places unless you are willing to push it up hills. 35 of 37 people found the following review helpful By mtmcintire (Florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Razor E300 Electric Scooter (Sports) I have really enjoyed riding this scooter to work which is one mile away. I take back roads since this vehicle is not allowed on public sidewalks or streets. I always walk it across the main busy street. The scooter works as advertised. It has good pick-up on flats. It seems to stuggle just a little on any incline. I'm 154 lbs. Everyone who has ridden it has loved it. The chain drive is relatively quiet. It has great gas mileage...like none. I haven't ridden it straight to see how long the battery would last. I've been able to get back and forth to work twice (1 mile each way) before I noticed a decrease in power. However, the low battery light didn't come on so I'm not sure if the power decline was because I was going up-hill. One thing that is hokey is that you cannot lock the handle in the down position. A screw unlocks it so you can fold it down, but it is not convenient to carry since there is no way to lock it down. bad design. Also,... Read more |
